Making your own seat cushions for your garden furniture
Making your own seat cushions for your garden furniture
We'll show you how to make your garden bench comfortable – and with a completely individual look.
This is what you'll need:
fabric
a piece of hardboard the same width as the bench
a foam cushion and a piece of fleece of the same size
a hand tacker, e.g. Novus J-29 with A6 fine wire staples from Novus
And here's how it's done:
1. Place the foam cushion, the fleece and the hardboard on the fabric and cut the fabric to size, leaving a fabric edge of approx. 5 cm on each side.
Step 1: Place the materials on top of each other and cut the fabric generously.
2. Fold back the edges of the fabric. Make sure that the fabric is taut as you do so.
Step 2: Turn the fabric over.
3. Use the hand tacker to attach the fabric to the edges all around the panel. The two long sides should be stapled first.
Step 3: Staple the fabric in place.
4. On the underside, now staple the pieces of elastic in place right and left (approx. 10 cm from the edge). The elastics help to hold the cushion firmly in place on the bench.
Step 4: Staple the elastics to the underside of the cushion.
The garden set is ready for your next match!
The elastics prevent the seat cushion from slipping off the bench.
